DESCRIPTION:AFRICAN AMERICANS FOR LA OPERA \nANNUAL BEN KERR FATHERS DAY RECITAL \nWITH ALANNAH GARNIER\, SOPRANO \nAND CHARLIE KIM\, PIANIST \nAT THE EBELL \nJUNE 21 2026\, 12 NOON \nSOUL FOOD RECEPTION IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING \nADVANCE TICKETS: $25\, AT THE DOOR: $35 \nAlannah Garnier\, soprano\, began formal music training at age five playing the violin and eventually started voice lessons at sixteen. She received a Masters of Music from the University of Missouri\, Kansas Cityand a Bachelors of Music from the California State University\, Long Beach. She also attended the Aspen Music Festival and School in 2013. \nWhile in Kansas City\, Ms. Garnier made her soloist debut at the Kauffman Center performing Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem. Alannah’s solo and oratorio experience is extensive having performed many major works including Mozart’s Requiem\, Finzi’s In Terra Pax\, Elijah by Mendelssohn\, Carmina Burana by Carl Orff\, Handel’s Messiah and many others. She made her Walt Disney Concert Hall Debut in 2018 as the soprano soloist in the world premier of “dreams of the new world” by Pulitzer Prize winning composer Ellen Reid commissioned by the LA Master Chorale. \nAs a member of the LA Opera Chorus and former member of the LA Master Chorale\, Alannah has gone on to perform regularly at the Walt Disney Concert Hall\, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and the Hollywood Bowl. Ms. Garnier has also performed at the Metropolitan Opera in New York as a chorister in the 2019/2020 Grammy-Award winning production of Porgy and Bess. She has performed on the LA Philharmonic’s Grammy Award Winning recording\, Ives: Complete Symphonies. Alannah lent her voice to film soundtracks including John William’s film score for Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi\, and Ramin Djwadi’s film score for A Wrinkle in Time as well as several recordings of contemporary works. \nHer Los Angeles Opera engagements this season include productions of Phillip Glass’ Akhenaten and Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte.  \n \nAccompanist Charlie Kim is a tour-de-force musician performing as a SAG-AFTRA session singer\, pianist\, and conductor based inthe Los Angeles area. He is praised for expressive vocal versatility\, captivating stage presence\, and sensitive collaboration from the podium and the piano. Her vast classical repertoire includes arias from the operas La Rondine\, Aida\, La Forza Del Destino\, Porgy and Bess\, Madama Butterfly\, Tosca\, Carmen\, Otello\, Tannhaüser\, La Wally\, and Adriana Lecouvreur\, to name a few. \nShe has appeared in numerous concerts throughout the United States and has performed internationally in Taiwan\, Spain\, Switzerland\, Germany\, the Philippines\, Israel\, South Africa\, Namibia\, Congo\, Nigeria\, and Egypt. \nGertrude has sung recitals for the organization African Americans for LA Opera and appeared in the LA Opera production of Porgy and Bess. She has sung on prestigious stages including the Hollywood Bowl\, Disney Concert Hall\, Avery Fischer Hall in Lincoln Center\, Madison Square Gardens\, Carnegie Hall in New York\, and the Philharmonie in Berlin Germany \nMs. Bradley has over 30 years of experience in musical theatre\, which includes professional performances in the Crystal Cathedral’s The Glory of Christmas\, and The Glory of Easter productions and a two-year tour with the Whispers in their production of Thank God the Beat Goes On. \nShe is a host\, teacher\, and musician on Open Door Communications Network program The Lord Reigns. \n  \n \nGreg Schreiner is the pianist\, narrator and producer of Hollywood Revisited. He has appeared on numerous television programs including AMC’s Hollywood Fashion Machine and A&E’s The Incurable Collector.  As a pianist\, Greg has performed as soloist with the Los Angeles Concert Orchestra\, Santa Monica College Symphony\, UCLA Symphony Orchestra\, Cypress Orchestra and performed at the opening ceremonies of the 1984 Olympics. He has several recordings in release including the soundtrack from Hollywood Revisited. He is been on the piano faculty at Santa Monica College since 1986 and at Cerritos College since 1989. Greg performs extensively around Southern California. He is also accompanist for the Mansfield Chamber Singers of Beverly Hills.  Mr. Schreiner  performed the Shostakovitch 2nd Piano Concerto for the PBS series “In Search of Wisdom”.  He has given recitals at the Richard Nixon Library in Yorba Linda  and at the Bellflower Civic Auditorium. He recently performed Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals with the Santa Monica College orchestra. Greg has been organist at Saint Augustine by the Sea Episcopal Church since 1989. \nMr. Schreiner holds Master Degrees in piano performance from UCLA and Western Illinois University\, and is president of the Marilyn Monroe Fan Club. Marilyn has been a huge part of Greg’s life since he was a six years old and saw Marilyn on the big screen in Some Like It Hot.  Marilyn has influenced and enriched his life in so many ways and brought many great experiences and friends who share the love of Marilyn. \n  \n
