Many opera fans and sympathetic film enthusiasts have found a symbiotic relationship between the two art forms. The blend of both can be an emotional, exciting and, yes, at times, very funny experience.

This presentation features a brief retrospective of operatic silent (!) films and the operatic personalities who made a successful, if bumpy, transition to the Hollywood sound stage. We will finish with movie excerpts that use opera as a metaphor for a film’s emotional theme.

So grab a box of popcorn and your favorite beverage, find a comfortable seat and enjoy the show!
